I belong at IU because it suits me. There is something to fit every aspect of my personality. For my academic interests, there is the Hutton Honors College. For my love for the theater, there is IU Usher Corps. For my interest in showing other students why I love IU, there is the Scholarship Advisory Committee. Everything at IU fits everything that is me, which is why I chose to come here.
February 23rd, 2012

Well spring has sprung down here in Bloomington. (Much to my dismay might I add). It’s been about 50 degrees down here for far too long- its February folks, seriously. Many of my friends think I’m crazy for wanting winter to linger just a little bit longer but I don’t care. Bring on the snowstorms!

Regardless of this unnaturally warm weather, spring also brings with it a whole host of new things to keep me busy. I am the President of the National Residence Hall Honorary here on campus. In the spring, we start to recruit all of our new members through call-out meetings, nomination periods, and a lot of other networking jobs to get our name out to the campus. So far, we have had some success through all of our efforts. I’m getting pretty excited to start going through our applications and preparing to induct our new members.

Spring also brings with it one of my favorite activities at Indiana University. The Kairos retreat is a Catholic retreat that I attended while I was in high school. I was delighted when I found out that the St Paul’s Catholic Center at IU hosted its own Kairos each spring. My freshman year I attended the retreat and for the past two years I have been a leader on it. This year, the retreat takes place Feb 24-26. It’s coming up so fast! I know that this year will bring with it a ton of new people and new friendships and I can;t wait for it to happen.

There’s so much else going on with classes, my internship and my other activities. I’ll write more during my next post. As is the case with busy people though, homework calls so I have to keep this one a little short. Have a wonderful Friday wherever you are!
