…Is so easy at Indiana University Bloomington.
I was elected President of the National Residence Halls Honorary chapter at IU this year. As President of this active honorary organization, I attend regional conferences, delve into campus issues, address volunteering needs in the community and manage an incredibly talented group of students. Very few students attending a Big 10 university the size of IU ever get the opportunity to preside over national organization like NRHH. I have learned new communications skills, how to problem solve, how to network, how to delegate, and how to multi-task. I love this organization.
As I …
Well all, this is not the traditional blog post. I wanted to share an experience with all of you that I had this past weekend. When students get to college, their parents will wonder whether or not their children will continue with any religious beliefs that have been instilled throughout their lives. I have had the pleasure of getting involved in the Catholic students community at Indiana University. I attend Mass at St. Paul and St. Charles. Both churches have different benefits. However, St. Paul has a religious retreat called Kairos that they host each year. The retreat allows students, …
Well spring has sprung down here in Bloomington. (Much to my dismay might I add). It’s been about 50 degrees down here for far too long- its February folks, seriously. Many of my friends think I’m crazy for wanting winter to linger just a little bit longer but I don’t care. Bring on the snowstorms!
Regardless of this unnaturally warm weather, spring also brings with it a whole host of new things to keep me busy. I am the President of the National Residence Hall Honorary here on campus. In the spring, we start to recruit all of our new …
As a journalism student I was bound to have to take a class on film, graphic design and video at some point during my college career. Needless to say, I have been putting it off. I am not comfortable behind a camera lens. This semester however, I learned that I could be.
My final project for my Journalism J210 class was to research, film and edit together a three minute video on a subject of your choice. For weeks I struggled choosing a topic until one night when it hit me.
I was reading the paper and there was a …
The Lilly Library at Indiana University is a hidden treasure. I have been at this university for almost three years now and I am just now discovering how cool this library is.
The Lilly Library is a very special institution at IU. It is the home of thousand of manuscripts and thousands more rare and ancient texts. While you may be saying, “Big deal, old books, who cares”, guess what… It is a big deal!
Yesterday I was working on a research paper for my history class on the Black Death. My assignment: go into Lilly Library and work with …
Well everyone, its that time of year again. The semester is over half way finished. The leaves have almost finished falling off the trees. And I just scheduled my spring semester classes. I must say, it was quite a wild ride!
Each year, students start scheduling their classes based on a registration date and time that they are assigned. As a junior, I finally had a decent registration time and thought that I would be all set to get into my first choice classes and times.
Well, as usual, I failed to expect the unexpected. I got closed out of …
Well ladies and gents, it may not feel like it, but it is the Spring Semester once again. Eventually the students will come back outside and some of them may even end up in the Arboretum pond just like last year. While watching students use duck floaties is pretty exciting there are so many other things around campus to look forward to in the spring.
The IU Auditorium has an amazing line up for this season. February 1 and 2 are definitely days to look forward to. The Blue Man Group will be performing for a two -night stint in …
Sorry its been so long since I’ve posted everyone! Finals and holidays make it a crazy time of year. Speaking of holidays Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanza and a Happy New Years to everyone! With the bright start of a new semester starting on the horizon and tests finally behind me, I have to say that I think its going to be a great Spring Semester. As is the tradition with starting a new year, I have made some resolutions. Some are the traditional ones- live a healthier lifestyle, exercise more etc. However there are also some relating to …
Of all the ways to start Thanksgiving break a little early I managed to somehow end up with the most painful one. Well readers, I am officially appendix-less. A week ago I started out with a really bad stomach ache that turned quickly turned into a much more painful condition. I went to the Bloomington Hospital ER where I was given the news that I was having surgery. Yay…not. Anyway, the appendix came out and then I got the pleasure of dealing with some post surgery complications. Needless to say, my parents wanted me home where they could look after …
Homecoming season is finally here. Football is back. The leaves are turning gorgeous colors. It is finally starting to drop below 70 degrees in B-Town. The Hoosiers are taking on Arkansas State this weekend and Homecoming festivities have been happening all week.
IU has some awesome Homecoming traditions. Since it is my favorite time of the year (fall, football, my birthday, good food, etc) I absolutely love everything about Homecoming. Monday: Nearly Naked Mile. Tuesday: Spirit Day. Wednesday: Cornhole Tournament. Thursday: Yell Like Hell. Friday: Parade, Pep Rally, Hoosier Hysteria. Saturday: IU is going to beat Arkansas State!
See, there …
